Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
